  • Monday Nights - 7:30pm, 18+ years, sponsored by Jack Daniels There's something very character-building about a pool comp. For two reasons: (1) Pool is a funny one, in which talent seems to come out of thin-air. I mean, sure you were a novice when you were eleven, but somehow - about your eighteenth birthday - it all comes together and you are able to pull-off the near impossible on a pool table - with graceful and effortless ease (almost like it's somehow residual in your DNA) - to the complete and utter surprise of all around, just as-much as the participant. This of course gives the participant a great lesson in acting, as he or she must play-the-part of someone who has achieved nothing-

  • Racers ready? The annual Top to Bottom is back for 2021! The iconic Top to Bottom is Australia’s richest, fastest and longest downhill race for skiers and boarders. With over $25,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, it’s one of the most lucrative as well…definitely worth slipping into the lycra. As the sun rises, racers line up at the top of Thredbo’s iconic Supertrail, Australia’s longest run, ready to take on the 3.2-kilometre downhill with their skis and boards in hand. They run in boots for a 100-metre dash before clicking/strapping in for a fast-paced blast to the bottom. This is where the battle begins as riders head to the village below, dropping 600 vertical metres while navigating, gates, straights and other racers. It starts at dawn with racing over before first lifts. Not feeling brave enough to take part in the race, but don’t want to miss out on all the action? Enjoy the race and a glass of bubbles at the prestigious Kareela Hutte Champagne Breakfast!

  • The meeting was also live streamed on the Jindabyne Action Group Facebook page. Jindabyne Chamber of Commerce president Olivier Kapetanakos hosted the meeting and presented an overall view of the SAP. Attending guests also asked questions and offered opinions on the topics. In general the community welcome the investment by the NSW Government, which could invest upwards of $200 million, but depending on what topic was raised, each person had their own views. The consensus of the meeting, which was mainly centred around the housing aspect of the draft master plan, was that interested residents should read and investigate certain technical studies to understand more information. The recommended documents to read are listed below the story. Everyone agreed that the public exhibition date should be extended beyond the August 12 date as there was so much information to read and understand. The date has now been extended to Monday August 23. When submitting any feedback to the SAP, mos

A series of low pressure systems will pass over the mountains this week, and while the first few systems will only result in higher elevation snow, starting Friday heavy snow will fall lasting into Sunday. The weather will deteriorate from Wednesday with strong winds, rain and snow battering the alpine regions. Snow will lower to potentially 800m on Friday. All resorts will welcome the news of impending big snow and this snowfall will certainly set up August for great skiing and snowboarding. Weather forecast Jane Bunn said "We are in a synoptic lull on Tuesday before the ‘beast’ takes control". "This will be a big and deep low over the Southern Ocean. But.. the low remains back to our west until Friday. That will push troughs or fronts over the alps on Wednesday and Thursday, but the

The temperature looks to be dropping By Friday and 10cm of new snow is forecast for the weekend. This shouldn’t be a problem if the temps stay warm during the day but if the temperatures fall at night and the snow settles on a melt freeze surface crust there will be binding issues. We will monitor this as the new storm arrive today. Also if you have any field observations please send them to us via email or on the observation portal on the Avalanche Australia website. • Here we go again – that sinking feeling Victorians know all too well has just hit many Sydneysiders with snow travel (or any travel!) plans wiped out in one press conference. The NSW government has just announced a raft of restrictions for residents of affected local goververnment areas from 4PM today 23 June. The restrictions apply for one week (at least). This is the key phrase for snow goers, see the full detail below: “IF YOU LIVE OR WORK IN THE CITY OF SYDNEY, WAVERLEY, RANDWICK, CANADA BAY, INNER WEST, BAYSIDE, AND WOOLLAHARA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS, YOU CANNOT TRAVEL OUTSIDE METROPOLITAN SYDNEY FOR NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL” The slopes are going to be quieter with the Sydney travel bans © snowaction.com.au So that puts a huge hole in snow travel plans for a lot of people. And creates a nightmare for business owners dealing with last minute cancelations. With new cases emerging in other areas – such as a childcare centre in Narellan, on the south west edge of Sydney, the
