LOCAL Jindabyne resident John Mcloughlin will switch his famous Christmas lights on from November 26 this year. In what has become a huge tradition for the town, John spends months reconfiguring his lights every year with both residents and visitors eagerly awaiting the display. This year, as always, John will have new additions to his light display, an event that raises money for the childcare centre across from his Bent St property. “This year I will have the most expensive single light I have ever bough for the display,” said John. Last year John raised $5477.60 cents for the Snowy Mountains Care and Early Learning Centre, an amount that seems to increase every year. Hundreds of residents visit the opening night to witness the occasion, plus every evening John welcome guests where you can stroll among the lights to see all the displays at close hand. Visitors are encouraged to support the display by way of gold coin donation that goes to a worthy cause. The lights are on every night until January 1.
